About Department of Urology
The Department of Urology, with over 60 years of history, is composed of distinguished professors specializing in all areas of urology who diligently fulfill their responsibilities using advanced medical technologies. The department possesses competitive expertise not only domestically but also internationally. In addition to undergraduate education, we develop programs for resident training, striving to cultivate highly skilled specialists who can contribute to society through medical practice.
Since performing the nation’s first hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy, we now routinely conduct laparoscopic donor nephrectomy for kidney transplant donors. Since 2009, robotic-assisted surgeries have also been implemented, and the number of robotic surgery cases has been rapidly increasing each year. In particular, in the rapidly growing field of prostate cancer, we provide trusted medical care to patients, leveraging our extensive accumulated experience and technical expertise in laparoscopic surgery.
Moreover, our academic achievements are demonstrated through numerous high-quality publications presented at domestic and international conferences. These accomplishments establish the department’s reputation and performance as comparable to leading university hospitals in Korea, not only within the Catholic Central Medical Center but also nationally.
