The Department of Legal Medicine at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine was established in September 1999. In June 2008, through an academic–institutional agreement with the Catholic University of Korea, the National Forensic Service, and the Korean National Police Agency, the department began performing a portion of judicial autopsies commissioned by the National Forensic Service.

Lectures are designed to provide students with essential medical knowledge for understanding medicolegal cases, including postmortem changes, injuries, asphyxia, poisoning, and natural causes of death. In addition, elective practicums offer students basic training in judicial autopsy practice.
