About Department of Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine is the largest dermatology education and research institution in the country, with 19 faculty specialists actively engaged in clinical practice, education, and research across eight affiliated hospitals.
The department aims not only to cultivate clinical competence in dermatology but also to nurture humanistic values and global competitiveness. Education is delivered by 19 subspecialized faculty members, covering a broad spectrum of subspecialties, including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia, vitiligo, skin tumors, nail disorders, acne, rosacea, infectious diseases, blistering diseases, photosensitive disorders, connective tissue diseases, cosmetic dermatology, and laser treatment. Through structured training programs and extensive patient care experience, residents develop both professional competence and practical skills as dermatology specialists.
In research, the department has built on a long tradition and the dedication of senior faculty, producing numerous academic achievements, including SCI/SCIE-indexed publications. Active translational and basic research is conducted in areas such as skin immunology, molecular biology, and genomics, with a focus on elucidating disease pathophysiology and developing new therapies. The department maintains strong collaborations with national and international research networks, particularly advancing studies in atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, alopecia, vitiligo, and rare intractable skin diseases.
