About Department of Biomedical Engineering
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine was established in March 1997 and has continuously advanced through distinguished education and research. Since the late 20th century, rapid developments in medical technology have enabled faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment of diseases, further highlighting the importance of biomedical engineers and medical physicists. They play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of existing medical devices and developing innovative medical technologies.
Our department, recognized as international accreditation standards, collaborates with the Graduate Program in Medical Science to train talented professionals in medical technology while leading the development of cutting-edge technologies for future healthcare. Active research focuses particularly on advanced medical imaging and therapeutic technologies, including radiological imaging and therapy, ultrasound, and photoacoustic imaging and therapy.
