Department of Dentistry

About Department of Dentistry

The Department of Dentistry began in the summer of 1959 with the establishment of a dental unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. Its mission is to conduct research on and prevention of dental and oral–maxillofacial diseases, provide treatment for patients, and train dental professionals, while serving as the medical school’s department responsible for hospital dentistry.The department comprises 30 faculty members, 4 clinical instructors, 20 residents, 2 trainees, and 6 attending dentists across eight hospitals—Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital, Uijeongbu St. Mary’s Hospital, Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, and Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital. Clinical services are provided in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, and General Dentistry. Residency training is conducted at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, with residents specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, and Periodontics.


The CMC Department of Dentistry also contributes to both basic and clinical research and education through the Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry, which is composed of four departments—Conservative and Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Implantology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The department is committed to playing a leading role in the advancement of dental medicine.
