About Department of Integrative Medicine
The Department of Integrative Medicine was established on March 1, 2004, as the first of its kind in Korea. It seeks to create a new medical paradigm by integrating scientifically grounded complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies and diagnostic methods with conventional Western medicine. By applying these approaches in clinical practice, the department contributes to the establishment of lifestyle medicine in Korea and to the integration of medical practices.
Education – Provides evidence-based CAM education to students and residents, enabling them to advise patients on CAM and apply it in clinical care.
Research – Conducts scientific studies on the mechanisms, efficacy, and safety of CAM, and organizes research groups and academic societies in the field of integrative medicine.
Clinical practice – Introduces evidence-based CAM—particularly Mind/Body, Movement/Exercise,
Diet/Nutritional Supplements, and Acupuncture/Herbs—into patient care, fostering the establishment of lifestyle medicine.
Clinical application – Currently operates integrative medicine clinics within the family medicine outpatient departments of affiliated hospitals and offers continuing education courses and workshops each year to provide healthcare professionals and the public with up-to-date information.
