About Department of Anatomy Introduction Faculty & Staff Other Faculty & Staff
The Department of Anatomy at the Catholic University of Korea College of Medicine was established in 1956, two years after the founding of the college. It is responsible for lectures and practical courses in gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and human embryology for medical students, as well as anatomy for nursing students. The department also conducts research on the structure and organization of living organisms.
As life sciences have advanced rapidly, anatomy—traditionally considered a relatively stable field compared to others—has transformed from a static discipline focused on morphology (gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and embryology) into a dynamic field increasingly linked to function and application. Reflecting this trend, the department continues to diversify and refine both its research and educational approaches, striving to provide more innovative and effective education and research outcomes.
