About Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatricsis composed of a total of 81 specialists, including full-time and clinical faculty, and 50 residents, making it the largest department of its kind in the country. All members of the department provide care to pediatric and adolescent patients with dedication and compassion, continuously striving to advance medical knowledge and promote the health of children and adolescents through research.
Department members are distributed across eight institutions under the Catholic Central Medical Center (Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital, Uijeongbu St. Mary’s Hospital, Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital, Incheon St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, and Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital), allowing them to treat diverse patient populations with unique regional characteristics. This setup provides unparalleled clinical experience and practical knowledge compared to any other institution in the country.
Each hospital has specialists in subspecialties such as infection and immunology, rheumatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology and nutrition, neurology, neonatology, nephrology, cardiology, respiratory and allergy, and hematology/oncology, ensuring that residents receive systematic training that combines both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
In an era of rapid change and an ever-increasing influx of new knowledge, the department actively engages in research in various fields to stay at the forefront, boasting top-level research achievements nationally. As the largest department in the country, it is composed of faculty from diverse medical schools across Korea and provides an optimized environment that allows all members to practice medicine with confidence. The department is dedicated to training pediatricians who contribute to the community and the nation in clinical care, research, and education. Furthermore, alumni collaboration is actively maintained to promote the advancement of the department and regional medical services, while fostering camaraderie and protecting mutual interests.
