About Catholic Institute of Bioethics
The Catholic Institute of Bioethics was established on March 1, 2002, to promote the dignity and value of human life and to foster a culture of respect for life. The Institute was founded with the aim of ensuring that rapidly advancing biotechnologies and medical sciences not only protect human dignity and the value of life, but also enhance them and contribute to the sustainable development of humanity. In today’s society, where individualism and materialism are becoming increasingly prevalent, science and technology are often evaluated solely on the basis of economic efficiency and profitability. In response, the Institute strives to establish and promote a holistic understanding of the human person grounded in Catholic personalism, through education and outreach. To this end, the Institute actively pursues various academic activities, including publishing an academic journal, organizing conferences and monthly seminars, and addressing emerging bioethical issues arising from scientific and technological advances.
