The Origin of Hayangi

The Catholic University of Korea’s mascot “Hayangi” was inspired by the phrase “the Lamb of God,” referring to Jesus. The character was designed in three versions to represent the university’s three campuses: Songsim, Songeui, and Songsin. At the Songsim Campus, Hayangi wears school jackets in various colors to represent the diversity of academic programs. At the Songeui Campus, Hayangi is depicted in a doctor’s gown to symbolize the College of Medicine. At the Songsin Campus, Hayangi wears clerical robes to highlight the Catholic identity of the university.
