THE BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCE
Preventive Medicine Department
Hygiene Department was opened in 1958, and renamed Preventive Medicine Department in 1960 to the present.
The Department of Preventive Medicine conducts studies on the prevention and control of health problems identified in the community by an integrated approach combining medical and social scientific methodologies. The department aims to foster healthcare providers who answer to the needs of preventive medicine and contribute to public health promotion through education and research on epidemiology, medical surveillance and medical law, and environment and industrial medicine related matters.
We are opening education programs on preventive medicine for our undergraduate course of medical school, related graduate school and graduate school of public health, and preventive medicine and industrial medicine in resident training course.
We are also conducting research in the fields of epidemiology, medical surveillance and law, and matters related to environmental and industrial medicine; project for national policy planning; international exchange; and publication activities.
